Nylon Space Heater Blower

The Challenge

A custom nylon blower designed to circulate warm air in a space heater required precise flatness, rotational balance and dimensional tolerances for proper performance. Achieving all three consistently in production demanded careful attention to tooling design.

The Approach

The R&D engineering team developed a custom sprue, runner and gating system with six slides that move at precise angles to seal off with the cavity and core. A three-plate mold with six balanced drop-gates ensures the part fills evenly and consistently while maintaining rotational balance. The 6” diameter blower is molded on a 190-ton Toshiba machine, with regular dimensional inspections and functional fit checks.

The Result

The well-designed tooling produces high-quality, dimensionally consistent parts that meet the customer’s balance and tolerance requirements at a typical lead time of four weeks.
