The Challenge
A customer needed a finished filter unit — not just molded parts. The PC/ABS housing required molded-in color, four ultrasonically inserted threaded brass fasteners, pad printing and mechanical assembly of both molded and purchased components. Coordinating these operations across multiple vendors would have added complexity and risk.
The Approach
R&D Plastics managed the entire process in-house as a continuous manufacturing stream. The unit, measuring 3.5” x 4” x 1”, was molded on an 85-ton Toshiba electric machine, with close coordination across moldmaking, molding and assembly. Inspections include dimensional and cosmetic checks on the molded part, along with verification of printed features, insert quality and a functional check of the completed unit.
The Result
The customer received finished, fully assembled units ready for their next destination — with a single point of contact and accountability throughout the process.
